Origin of

Bottley

Bottley was founded in July of 2015 as named Bazaarian after seeing a homeless person whom Eli had personal acquaintance with dying on the street. Maybe it was the guilt that has turned into anger towards the social system. A system that has allowed the bottom percentile of the pyramid inadvertently neglected in a capitalist society, or perhaps that it generated such layer in the system. This anger triggered to start "something" that can reverse the formula by applying capitalism to save lives. The definition of "something" is business. The idea came from watching many episodes of Shark Tank. Hence, Bazaarian LLC was founded. The name Bazaarian comes from a word bazaar; a fundraising sale of goods, typically for a charity. The object is to donate a portion of proceeds from selling any Bazaarian products to charities. Therefore, the earlier 32 oz water bottles with Bazaarian name on it donates 10% of profit to Water.org.

After several weeks of researches, the very first prototype was built in the basement. It is based on Bazaarian's double-walled insulated 32oz water bottle with a circuit board borrowed from a smoke detector. Hence, the bottle beeps every time you drink out of it. More professional assistance in R7TASC (Technical Assembly Service Corp based in Seattle) joined the R&D process as I realize that more professional help is necessary. Greg, an electrical engineer was very enthusiastic about the project and has been a tremendous help looking into various development options. During the days of spending every penny earned on the development of the product, Eli got a call from his mom. Her quivering voice told him that they found something in his dad's lung. Eli still recalls the emotions he experienced during those days. One of those emotions is guilt. Guilt from seeing his dad continuing to pursue his daily job as a general contractor remodeling houses for him to pay for the rent. Eli decided to quit being an entrepreneur and decided to find a real job that can pay him regularly, that way he can contribute to the rental payment. Coming this far, however, he decided to give it one last chance and sought for an investor, a person who believes in the project enough to put down the money. He composed advisory board members with potential investors in the group. After 5 months of chasing, Brian H has decided to convert himself as a founding investor from an adviser. Thanks to his investment the entity, Eli was able to allocate enough capital to market for the crowdfunding campaign.

The way Bottley donates is pretty simple. For every 10 gallons of water user drinks, we donate $0.02 to Charity: Water. This means if we have approximately 228,000 users drinking an adequate amount of water using Bottley smart bottle, we are annually donating $100,000 to Charity: Water!

At Bottley we envision

To be the center of the hydration industry by providing excellent services and products

and hold a mission

To provide hydrated lives for many people.

while cultivating a company that's

Building a people matter community

Without any business education, Eli read as many business books as he possibly can. One of which was Start Something that Matters by Blake Mycoskie, the founder, and CEO of Toms Shoes. Inspired by the one-four-one model (donating a pair to kids in Argentina when you buy a pair of their shoes) at Toms, decided to incorporate the model to the water bottle business. This model works for pairs of shoes. But how would it apply to a reusable water bottle business? We can't donate a water bottle to people in need of safe water when they don't have access to it. Can we send a water bottle with clean water in them for every bottle sold? The idea is costly and inefficient. Thinking about an efficient way to giveback inexpensively became the new approach to chew on. Then, Eli had a eureka moment, donating according to how much the user drinking out of the water bottle! Hence, Hydrade (now called Bottley) is born, a double-walled insulated smart water-bottle that tracks your custom hydration and donates according to the amount of your water intake.

Wine Bottle?!

Recycled

Bazaarian was founded to bring positive changes to the world. One of which was to save the environment by recycling wine bottles. However, wine bottles were too heavy and non-resistant to hot beverages quickly realizing the idea is not valid to bring it to the market as a product.

Officially the very first selling product by Bazaarian. The name Bazaarian comes from a word bazaar; a fundraising sale of goods, typically for a charity.

I really like this double wall water bottle

I really like this double wall water bottle. It donates 10% of its sales to water.org. And best of all, it provides safe and clean water to places in need of it.

Phase II

  • A realistic mockup has built according to the 3D CAD design.

  • Partnered up with a local technical facility (TASC) to expand on the research and development process.

  • Composed a team splitting various work scope.

  • Merged Bazaarian team with TASC team as Greg (from TASC) leading the R&D

  • Prove of Concept has completed validating the technology.

  • Researched and developed various (kinetic, solar, frequency wave energy harvesting) energy sources to exclude the option of plug-in charge nor conductive charging.

  • Resolved to make it a solar power based product.

  • Completed user interviews for the development of the mobile app.

  • Started developing mobile app's UI and UX considering various options.
